Are your SEO efforts stuck? Not seeing any improvement in keyword rankings? Feeling like the project is stuck? In this article, I have covered the SEO strategies you should embrace when your SEO efforts are not yielding the expected results. This happens often with all SEO agencies. It is very common, but saying so it is also very important to monitor your SEO performance regularly and identify early signs of stuck SEO efforts. It’s essential to reassess your approach and make necessary adjustments before it is too late and you lose a project due to non-performance. Here are three strategies to consider when your SEO progress is stagnant:

Perform a Comprehensive SEO Audit:

We are all aware that SEO consists of 2 main components, on-page, and off-page activities respectively. An SEO audit helps identify potential issues and areas of improvement on your website. Key points to keep in mind while auditing your website.

There are a lot of parameters to consider while auditing your website but listed below are some major parameters you should consider.

SEO Audit

Crawling and Indexing Issues

It is very important that your website pages are crawled and indexed. This is important because Google Spiders will know about your website only when they crawl the WebPages and then index the pages based on the HTML content. For this purpose, I would suggest using a tool like Semrush. Ensure you check for broken links and error messages. Verify your robot.txt file to make sure you have allowed or blocked pages based on your requirement.

Crawling and Indexing

Internal Linking

Internal linking is very important from an SEO strategies standpoint. If you have seen the Wikipedia website you will see some of the content in Wikipedia have hyperlinks to other content/pages. This is known as internal linking. Check your website and try to link specific words/phases to other pages of the same website. The more you can interlink the better it is. If you have not utilized the benefits of internal linking so far make sure you use internal linking.

Also, check for broken internal links.

Duplicate Content

In order to check for duplicate content, I would suggest you use tools like Semrush. You can find duplicate content pages that are indexed on Google. This hampers your ranking for the keywords that you are targeting from that particular page.

Mobile Friendliness

The majority of Google traffic nowadays is from mobile browsers. It is imperative to check for the mobile-friendliness of your website. There are several tools to check mobile friendliness. But I prefer using the Google webmaster tool. Fix any mobile responsive issues at the earliest as it hampers user experience and also is a major factor in website ranking. With the above technical audit in place and issues fixed, you will start seeing improvement in website ranking, traffic, and traffic behavior. But this is not it. There are other factors that are low-hanging fruit and are worth a look.

Mobile Friendliness

Update and Expand Content:

SEO is all about content. The more and the better content you can produce the better it is for ranking. It is advisable that you update the content of your website frequently. Making sure that the content is up to date with the latest trends has a great impact on your site ranking. If your website has outdated or thin content, it’s the right time to refresh and expand it. Regularly update existing content with fresh information, statistics, and insights to maintain relevance. Specifically, look into the content for the pages that you have targeted with keywords. Check for the keywords where you do not see any improvement. Audit the content of the page that has been targeted with these keywords.

Make sure you have a good text-to-HTML ratio (meaning you have more content than HTML code). Do thorough keyword research to ensure you do not miss out on any opportunities. E.g. often user makes spelling mistake while searching on Google. Make you have factored those in as well when you are doing keyword research. These are really some low-hanging fruits that you can capitalize on. Focus on creating high-quality, comprehensive, and informative content that addresses users’ needs and queries. Use keyword research to identify relevant topics and incorporate them naturally within your content. Updating and expanding content should be a part of your SEO strategy.

Build High-Quality Backlinks:

Backlinks play an important role in SEO strategies, as they signal authority and trust to search engines. While creating backlinks make sure that the website where the backlink is getting created has a domain authority of 40 and above. Also, ensure the website where the link is being created is related to the niche of your business. If your business is related to real estate there is no point creating backlinks on a website that focuses on food delivery. Focus on building high-quality and relevant backlinks from authoritative websites in your industry. Reach out to reputable websites, engage in guest posting, collaborate with influencers, or create valuable content that others would want to link to. Avoid creating backlinks on spammy websites as they can harm your website’s ranking and reputation.

Always try to create links on different websites. Creating multiple links on the same website (same IP) doesn’t make any difference. It is just a waste of your time. Since Google will not consider these links to be different. You should always aim in increasing the number of referring domains.

Use a 3 tier SEO strategy for creating backlinks. Ensure that you check your backlinks regularly to make sure you are not losing out on backlinks faster than they are created. Ideally, if you create links with relevant content with relevant websites, you will not lose those links.

Backlinking

Conclusion

Remember that SEO is an ongoing process, and it may take time to see significant results. Patience, persistence, and continuous monitoring and adaptation of your SEO strategies are key to overcoming stagnation and achieving improved SEO performance.

Be transparent with your clients. Keep your stakeholders informed about any changes, challenges, etc. This will not only enhance your relationship with the client but also will make the client see the efforts that you are putting in for the project. Even if sometimes there are ups and downs which is quite normal you can retain the project. Above are the points necessary for successful marketing.
